SPRING & SUMMER CLOTHING!

October 2016
The Chocolate Festival to celebrate Koinonia's 50th anniversary happened on Saturday, October 8th - even though it rained or drizzled most of the day! Even with the rain, or perhaps because of the rain, we had a great turnout - we estimate between 350 and 400 people came through the doors. Since everything except the information tables were brought inside, we weren't able to have all the events we originally scheduled, but we still had LOTS of chocolate and stuff going on:
Two chocolate dessert tastings, one featuring the specialties of some of our local businesses, the other featuring our talented homemade dessert bakers
A silent auction including chocolate-themed and pro-team items
FREE hot dogs & ice cream
Magic Show for Kids
Games
Face painting
We were also able to collect much needed fall/winter clothing and non-perishable food items to replenish Koinonia's clothing closet and food pantry. All in all, a great day of fun, fellowship and CHOCOLATE! Thank you to everyone who made this event a success.
November 2016
On November 12th, Koinonia was the recipient of canned and other non-perishable goods from the annual Boy Scout Food Drive. After distributing 2000 bags in various neighborhoods in the Koinonia service area, the Boy Scouts then went back on November 12th to collect the bags of groceries left out by our amazing neighbors! Koinonia collected 13,243 pounds of food which is about 30% more than last year. This drive is one of our biggest of the year and the food collected will go to so many needy in our immediate community. Thank you to all our volunteers who helped make this such a sucessful day for us and a special thank you to St. Lawrence Episcopal Church who donated their space as a collection spot for the donated food.
